Mary Loria is a ceramic artist and instructor. Ms. Loria graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Art History. She later studied ceramics at Emily Carr University of Art and Design and has taken numerous pottery courses and workshops including Metchosin International Summer School for the Arts. She has training in glaze chemistry, hand- building and wheel throwing. Ms. Loria’s professional background is in ceramics and printmaking, she is currently a ceramics instructor at both Cedar Hill Recreation and Arts Centre and the University of Victoria Art Education Department. For the past 13 years, she has operated a private pottery studio where she designs and creates her own work. Ms. Loria works primarily in porcelain to produce decorative and functional ceramic pieces. Ms. Loria has been selling her artwork for over 15 years through her studio, in markets, craft shows and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.
